Read what others are saying about us!
Here you'll find excerpts from letters and e-mails we've received in recent years noting the impact of our materials on particular communities, organizations or projects:
"Hesperian's books have been termed by us as The Books of Life, because generation upon generation shall live to gain from them… Your donation of five books will leave a memorable mark on FAWEDA, which brightens the lives of thousands of destitute families — especially poor children in rural areas. We are working hard to improve the livelihood of the people in the domain of health, education, agriculture and other projects."

"The chapters [of Helping children who are deaf] are well organized, they give a wide range of knowledge on how to help children who are deaf. The language used is clear and understood. It did not need much time to read and translate and interpret it into Kiswahili or sign language for others to understand the text. However, we are also of the opinion that you could also include a few points regarding Deaf Culture. It could be important for parents and other service providers to know that deaf community has its own culture, rules of polite behavior and communication behavior."

"In my country, the disabled, and especially disabled women, are seen as children, and you don't give children any responsibility. So women with disabilities get excluded from almost everything: education, health care, land ownership, etc. We need information for women with disabilities so that they can learn how to take better care of their health themselves, and what they can do as a community to get doctors and nurses and hospital administrators to change their attitudes and make health care more accessible and available for women with disabilities. Hesperian's book will really help us do that."
