Books in Progress
Hesperian develops new books after an exhaustive period of needs assessment and consultation with our international network of partners. It is these same partners who assist us in researching, writing and conducting community review.
This high level of collaboration ensures that the final book will be relevant, culturally appropriate and reflective of the lives and needs of the people who need it most. Learn more about our collaborative book development process.
Hesperian books look at the underlying social, political and economic causes of poverty and poor health, as well as addressing identification and treatment options. We also cover age-old and emerging health threats, like environmental health or workers' health in export processing zones. Hesperian applies a gender lens to all of our publications.
Hesperian currently has six titles in development:
- A community guide to environmental health
- A Health Handbook for Women with Disabilities
- Worker's Guide to Health and Safety
- Helping Vulnerable Children
- HIV, health, and your community
- Ayudar a los niņos sordos (Helping children who are deaf, Spanish version)
