Thank you to everyone who came by Hesperian’s booth during last weekend’s Consortium of Universities in Global Health (CUGH) conference! It was wonderful to see long-time supporters and connect with potential new collaborators.
So many people recognized the copy of Where There Is No Doctor on our table and stopped to tell us about how they have used the book in their work abroad or how they give copies to their students or loved ones! Attendees who only knew us for Doctor were pleasantly surprised when they saw Hesperian’s many print resources.
They were delighted to learn about the various health topics that we cover and we were excited to share news of our recently redesigned website to point people towards the digital formats that our materials are offered in.
With a majority of the attendees being global health professionals and professors, there was great interest in Hesperian’s newest title—Doing Global Health Work. The author, Kirk Scirto, presented a poster at CUGH and was able to stop by the table to answer questions about the book for eager educators. Many enjoyed flipping through the display copy of the accompanying discussion guide, brainstorming different ways to incorporate Doing Global Health Work into their curricula.
Perhaps the most gratifying part of exhibiting was the sheer number of heartfelt thank yous we received from dozens of attendees who have used Hesperian books to teach, train, diagnose, and learn. It was amazing to hear about Hesperian’s inclusion in library guides and workshops all around the world.
Luckily, thanks to the power of the internet, you don’t need to attend a conference to tell us how you are using our books and apps! If you’d like to share your story or news of your projects that include Hesperian materials, you can always send an email to [email protected].
