Position: Individual Giving Coordinator
We seek an outgoing Individual Giving Coordinator to join our team. Working closely with and reporting to the Communications Director and the Executive Director, the Individual Giving Coordinator cultivates and builds relationships with Hesperian’s individual donors. Primary duties of this position include: gift processing and tracking, database management, donor relations, and supporting a wide range of fundraising communications and outreach.
This is a full-time position at our Oakland, California office with the possibility of remote work up to 2 days a week. As a mission-driven organization, we look for candidates that share a commitment to promoting social justice and an understanding or familiarity with grassroots outreach and community organizing. The ideal candidate has fundraising experience, is self-motivated, a strong communicator, and has high attention to detail.
Essential Functions:
Coordinates the development and implementation of plans aimed at the solicitation and stewardship of individual donors at all levels of giving.
Manages receipt, processing, acknowledgement, and reconciliation of gifts.
Corresponds and communicates regularly with donors at multiple giving levels via phone, email, and personalized or mass mailings.
Collaborates with the Communications Team on donor cultivation strategies and demonstrating impact in external communications.
Accurately maintains donor and campaign information in donor management software and facilitates campaign updates on outward-facing communications channels.
Works with Communications Director to analyze donor data, identify trends and opportunities, and report regularly to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors. Additional responsibilities may include:
Support planning and implementation of virtual or live events approximately 2-3 times a year, and may represent Hesperian at occasional community events or meetings.
Support research into grant opportunities and development of funding requests as needed.
This position may be required to attend a once-per-quarter meeting with Hesperian’s Board of Directors occurring outside of regular business hours*
*Events or meetings held outside business hours receive comp time or flexible scheduling.
Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in fundraising and/or communications.
Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) for relationship building, collaboration, and persuasion.
Resourceful self-starter who can take initiative and independently solve problems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets).
Commitment to promoting social justice and the right to health.
Helpful to have:
Experience with CRM donor databases
Experience living overseas and/or interest in global health
Bilingual in English and Spanish/French or other languages
Location:
Hybrid at Hesperian’s Oakland office; remote work up to 2 days a week.
Compensation & Benefits:
This is a full-time position with a starting salary ranging from $55,000 to $58,000, commensurate with experience.
